Belgian Season 32, or Global Season 45, was the sixth full season in which Red Star Brussels participated, and the fifth in which they participated as Red Star Brussels (before, they used to be known as Red Star Gent). It's also their third season in League VI.449.
Season Synopsis
Name
The team continued with his name Red Star Brussels, or the official name SVV Red Star Brussels.
Stadium
The Red Star Brussels stadium, the Leon Trotski Stadium, had 50 000 seats at the beginning of the season, and was not upgraded.
Season Summary
The team started the season with a new sponsor, YFPB, the national oil and gas company of Bolivia. Part of the deal was that RSB would be taking care of the formation of three Bolivian players, which they did (xx). Also, it was agreed upon that a promotion to 5th division would have to be possible in 3 seasons from here, including this one. A top-3 position was fixed for this season as the goal for RSB.
Because of a loss against Black Dragonteam on the first matchday, and two draws against PZN and Biefje in the weeks that followed, RSB was forced into a follower's position throughout the season. They were able to do better in the later stages of the seasons, but failed to win the decisive games in the season: the return game against PZN was lost 2-1, thus blowing RSB's last chance on the title. A 4-2 win against Black Dragonteam on the last matchday of the season secured the third position in the league.
The cup run was equally succesfull as the one two seasons before, and RSB could obtain the fourth round of the cup. In that round, they were eliminated by fifth division team de dry boeren.
