The Confederation of Independent Hattrick Football Associations (CIHFA) is the international governing body for association football teams that are not affiliated with HFA. It is made up of teams that represent nations, dependencies, unrecognized states, minorities, stateless peoples, regions and micronations not affiliated to FIFA.
Formely known as Non-Official Football Association (NFA), the organization was created as a joyfull league of territoties claiming their own spot in the game and/or HFA recognition.
Foundation and Purpose
The Non-Official Football Association (NFA) was a mystic organisation located somewhere in the non-Hattrick world, maybe on a secret island (many say it's Sealand). The organization was created as a joyfull league of territoties claiming their own spot in the game and/or HFA recognition. It was made up for teams for who application for HFA membership was denied.
The NFA organised the first NFA U-20 World Cup in 2007. After that, it all changed: the national U-20 teams of Savoy, Somaliland and Afghanistan became bot teams, Catalunya's application for HFA membership was denied in 2009, and Cuba and Qatar obtained their official leagues in 2011. Then NFA gradually transformed in a secret group operating in the shadows against HFA.
Some years later, the NFA became Confederation of Independent Hattrick Football Associations (CIHFA), an alternative global umbrella organization for all the football teams outside HFA.

| From time to time we get questions about our policy for new league additions, and also for country names, and while this may not be the most interesting news it's good to spell it out and make it clear.
New league additions in Hattrick have to be FIFA members. We also base our naming policy on FIFA. We have used this policy for many years now, as it makes perfect sense for us to do so. Hattrick is a global online football game, and FIFA is the international governing body of association football. So in case of any dispute, we choose the same name that FIFA uses. This way, we don't take side in any real life conflict. In our league dropdowns we will start using the English name now. This will make it much easier for everyone to understand and use the dropdown. It will also make us more compliant with our FIFA policy and avoid real life conflicts carrying over to the Hattrick world. | |
Tournaments
The NFA organised the NFA U-20 World Cup, an international football tournament for national teams that are not (and usually may not become) members of the HFA.
Members
CIHFA expressly uses the term "members" rather than "countries" or "states". A football association may be eligible to apply for membership of CIHFA if it, or the entity (ethnic and/or linguistic minority, indigenous group, cultural organization, territory) it represents, is not a member of HFA and satisfies one or more of the following criteria:
- territories part of larger countries whose inhabitants have a strong historically constituted identity with ethnic or cultural unity;
- full recognized country non associated with HFA that does not participate in international tournaments.
