Sealand Cup XXIX was the twenty-ninth edition of the Sealand Cup, the friendly competition of the Sealand federation and was held in (Dutch) season 47. The final was held at Galg & Waard on 24 June 2015, where Rohda Raalte defeated HetBeste 5–0. Title holder 1Utreg1 was eliminated by HetBeste in the semi-finals.

Seeding

The draw for the group stage was held in Heeze on 6 May 2015.

Teams were seeded into four pots based on their Sealand-Coefficient. The Sealand-Coefficient was determined by league level, league results, Hatstats and results in the previous three Sealand Cups. Teams from the same region could not be drawn against each other. Title holder 1Utreg1 was seeded into first position (regardless of their coefficient) and automatically drawn into the Dogwood Group.

Group Stage

The Group Stage of the twenty-ninth Sealand Cup ran from 13 to 27 May 2015. Because of the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup, the groups were named after the official provincial flowers of the six cities that hosted matches in the World Cup: the pacific dogwood (for Vancouver, British Columbia), the wild rose (for Edmonton, Alberta), the blue flag iris (for Montréal, Québec), the white trillium (for Ottawa, Ontario), the prairie crocus (for Winnipeg, Manitoba) and the purple violet (for Moncton, New Brunswick).

Format

The teams in each group played each other in a single round-robin format, playing the other teams in the group once (at home or away). Each team earned 3 points for a win in regular time, 2 points for a win after extra time or after a penalty shoot-out, 1 point for a loss after extra time or after a penalty shoot-out and 0 points for a loss in regular time. For goal difference purposes, matches decided after extra time or after a penalty shoot-out were treated as if the match had been decided after a golden goal (regardless of the actual number of goals scored). This point system is similar to the system used by the (real-life) IIHF for international ice hockey matches. The order of play in each group was decided by draw.

The top-two teams of each group and the four best third-placed teams advanced to the second round (round of sixteen). If two or more teams were level on points, the head-to-head result was the main tie-breaking criterium.

Knockout Stage

The next stage of the tournament was the Knockout Stage. Sixteen teams qualified for this stage (the group winners and runners-up from all six groups, accompanied by the four best third-placed teams). Teams tied on points would be ranked by the results between the top-three teams only.

Draw

The teams were seeded first to sixteenth, based on their result in the group stage (only results between the top-three teams were taken into account when teams were tied on points). In the second round, the highest-seeded teams would face the lowest-seeded teams at home. The teams received a new seeding after each round, which included the results of the previous match. This means that the bracket was not fixed and all teams could face each other in subsequent rounds, depending on how they performed. One exception was made for teams that qualified from the same group: these teams could not meet each other in the second round.

The quarterfinals, semi-finals and finals were played at a neutral venue. Galg & Waard, the home stadium of 1Utreg1 (winner of the previous edition), was selected as host of the final. If 1Utreg1 had won their semi-final, another venue would have been selected instead.

  • According to the fixtures, Rohda Raalte had to play Utrechtseboys, but they could not meet again (as both teams qualified from the Iris Group). As they were the highest- and lowest-ranked qualifiers, no draw had to take place to determine each team's opponent: Rohda Raalte would play Bal op 't Dak '10 and Utrechtseboys would play AC Luna Spirit.
