In 2009, with nearly one million active teams, there was a record number of divisions for every league in Hattrick World

A league is the set of divisions belonging to a country.

The decision to create a new league is taken by the Hattrick Team in order to allow all managers from the same spot of the globe to play more closely together and share both the same local forum and the same hall of fame.

Expansion of leagues

      Main article: Division

Each league consists of a certain number of levels, or divisions, that that must be filled users before any further expansion. So, depending on the number of users, it can be easy or time-consuming to reach the top division.

The smallest countries have only three divisions, the largest ones (i.e. Spain, Italy, Germany) reached eleven of them at maximum expansion. It means that a team starting in the bottom division, XI or 11, had to climb 10 levels to get to the top division (i.e. German Bundesliga, Italian Serie A or Spanish Primera division).

There have been some important steps in the history of Hattrick regarding the league expansion:

Season 2
680 teams in Sweden: Allsvenskan, division 1, division 2 and division 3 are created. Note that Sweden is a special case when numbering the league levels; the first level is Allsvenskan, then come Ia to Id, then the "second" divisons IIa to IIh, and so on. The lowest division Sweden has ever reached, the tenth level, was actually called division IX (nine).

Footnotes

  1. ^  Global season is referred to the first league ever created, the swedish one. It is called global because the same number is shared by leagues create before 2001 (all other leagues were given their own season number starting at 1).
  2. ^  The Nation code is an identification number used in the game. Normally each new country added takes the number following the last one used, although in some cases codes have been used for tests or other hidden activities and are no longer available (i.e hidden test league created and then cancelled like New Moon or Middle Earth).
  3. ^  Originally created as "Srbija i Crna Gora" and then renamed "Serbia" in global season 30 after creation of a separeted lague for 131. Montenegro (Crna Gora).
  4. ^  n.a. is for a national code not active, unused or not accessible - This is where there are jumps in the numbering.
  5. ^  The country was restarted after an error. Due to the error, what appears as season 2 is in fact season 1, season 3 is season 2, etc. For example, the displayed season 36 was the 35th season played (note that the strange data behave is not corrected in the National trophies table below).
