Sealand Cup XLIX was the forty-ninth edition of the Sealand Cup, the friendly competition of the Sealand federation and was held in (Dutch) season 67. The final was held Wembley Stadium on 22 August 2021, where Ad Maiorem Mei Gloriam defeated title holders defeated Royal Sun And Evil FC 3–2 to win their first Sealand Cup.

Seeding

The draw for the group stage was held in Heeze on 30 June 2021.

Teams were seeded based on their Sealand-Coefficient, which was solely determined by results in all previous Sealand Cups, with results losing a quarter of their value each season. The teams were divided in two pots; the top-quarter (seeded teams) as 'group leaders' and the remaining teams as unseeded teams.

Teams from the same region could not be drawn against each other. Fort Roughs Cup holder Kennemerland 6 could not be seeded lower than fifteenth (their final position in the previous season).

Group Stage

The Group Stage of the forty-eighth Sealand Cup ran from 6 to 21 July 2021.

Format

The teams in each group played each other in a single round-robin format, playing the other teams in the group once (at home, away or at a neutral venue). All groups were scheduled to play one round at a neutral venue, corresponding to a UEFA Euro 2020 host stadium. Title holders Royal Sun And Evil FC played the opening match of the tournament, a match that predated the Sealand Cup Kickoff introduced from Sealand Cup LV on.

Each team earned 3 points for a win in regular time, 2 points for a win after extra time or after a penalty shoot-out, 1 point for a loss after extra time or after a penalty shoot-out and 0 points for a loss in regular time. For goal difference purposes, matches decided after extra time or after a penalty shoot-out were treated as if the match had been decided after a golden goal (regardless of the actual number of goals scored). This point system is similar to the system used by the (real-life) IIHF for international ice hockey matches.

The order of play in each group of four teams was pre-determined (the Pot I team would face the middle-, lowest- and highest-seeded Pot II team in that order), except for the Golden Group (the first and second round were switched), the Yellow Group and the Red Group (the first and third round were switched), because the final group matches had to be played at the same time. The order of play in groups of three teams differed.

The top-two teams of each group, the best third-place teams and one wild card team advanced to the second round (round of twenty-six). All other teams qualified for the Fort Roughs Cup. If two or more teams were level on points, the head-to-head result was the main tie-breaking criterium.

The team with the best fair play record (10 points for each match played, 3 penalty points for each single yellow card and 9 penalty points for each red card) received the wild card and was seeded eleventh (best non-group winner) for the round of twenty-six.

Group winners (shaded blue in this ranking) could not receive the wild card (as they were already assured of a top-ten seeding). If multiple teams were eligible, the team with the best group stage results received the wild card. If no teams were eligible (all teams with the best fair play record were group winners), this spot in the knockout stage was transferred to the next-best third-placed team.
