History

• Israeli league was created in September 2002 (global season 17).
• The season 1 was restarted because there was an error that caused the league to be created without any teams in it. Due to that error, season 1 appear to be vanished away, but is in effect season 2 (season 3 is the second season, etc).
• The country started with 49 Regions, but that large number was later reduced to 11.
• The league was extended to 4 divisions in local season 4, and then to 8 before the beginning of season 17.
• Israel hosted U-20 World Cup VIII, but failed to qualify for the event.

• The first to win a double was Beitar. The second one was Hapoel Nahariya.
