Every league has one [[National_team#National_Team|national team]] and one [[National_team#U-20_National_Team|Under 20 NT]], as well as two participants in [[Hattrick Masters]].
The [[Hattrick International]] partly works similar to other national leagues, but it doesn't have any region or any national team.

There are different league levels, or divisions, and a certain number of levels for each Hattrick country, depending on the number of users in that specific country.

Each league consists of a certain number of levels, or divisions, that that must be filled [[user]]s before any further expansion. So, depending on the number of users, it can be easy or time-consuming to reach the top division.  


The smallest countries have only three levels, the largest ones, e.g. [[España|Spain]] and [[Deutschland|Germany]] at maximum expansion reached eleven of them, ranging from the first divison (e.g. [[Bundesliga]] in Germany or [[Allsvenskan]] in [[Sverige|Sweden]]) to the bottom division XI (11).

In 2009, with nearly one million active teams, there was a record number of divisions for every league in Hattrick World

A league is the set of divisions belonging to a country.

The decision to create a new league is taken by the Hattrick Team in order to allow all managers from the same spot of the globe to play more closely together and share both the same local forum and the same hall of fame.

Expansion of leagues

      Main article: Division

Each league consists of a certain number of levels, or divisions, that that must be filled users before any further expansion. So, depending on the number of users, it can be easy or time-consuming to reach the top division.

The smallest countries have only three divisions, the largest ones (i.e. Spain, Italy, Germany) reached eleven of them at maximum expansion. It means that a team starting in the bottom division, XI or 11, had to climb 10 levels to get to the top division (i.e. German Bundesliga, Italian Serie A or Spanish Primera division).

There have been some important steps in the history of Hattrick regarding the league expansion:

Season 2
680 teams in Sweden: Allsvenskan, division 1, division 2 and division 3 are created. Note that Sweden is a special case when numbering the league levels; the first level is Allsvenskan, then come Ia to Id, then the "second" divisons IIa to IIh, and so on. The lowest division Sweden has ever reached, the tenth level, was actually called division IX (nine).
