The Eighth World Cup tournament took place from 20 January 2006 to 13 August 2006.

106 national teams played a total of 600 matches in the 16 groups of qualification in order to define the 32 participants to the final stage held in Germany. The host nation was one of them and went so far as to final.

In the final, Deutschland defeated România 3–1 to win the tournament and secure the country's first world title. German player Markus Saraba became top scorer of tournament with 8 goals.

Next summer, the FIFA World Cup 2006 will take place in Germany. Hattrick has decided to follow this example and the Hattrick World Cup VIII will be hosted by Germany. Willkommen in Deutschland!

Oceania, Deutschland, España and România are the final four teams in the World Cup. The semifinals will be played Friday at 20.00 and the winners will then battle for the World Cup trophy on Sunday at 20:00.

For the first time ever, Deutschland is the new world champions after beating România in the final. Congratulations to Deutschland and especially to the manager LH-Rolli. The next World Cup will be played in Russia, but it's already time to elect new national coaches. The election starts tomorrow and can be found here.
