Sealand Cup XXV was the twenty-fifth edition of the Sealand Cup, the friendly competition of the Sealand federation and was held in (Dutch) season 43. The final was held at Kings Castle on 9 April 2014, where Real Lutjegast defeated SC RedHead 7–4 after extra time. Defending champions Kings Squad were eliminated in the third round (round of sixteen) by Ploeg Van 'T Stad.

Participating teams

44 teams participated in Sealand Cup XXV, including eight previous champions. This number was a new record-high number of participants. Six teams made their début. Three extra clubs participated (including one debutant) to make up the field.

Seeding

The draw for the group stage was held in Heeze on 30 October 2013.

Teams were seeded into four pots based on their Sealand-Coefficient. The Sealand-Coefficient was determined by league level, league results, Hatstats and results in the previous three Sealand Cups. Teams from the same region could not be drawn against each other.

Extra teams did not receive a score and were automatically seeded alphabetically in the last positions, albeit without official seeding number.
A ranking error in Sealand Cup XXII resulted in wrong coefficients for R.C. Vozzko (should have been 235.30) and FC Sammie de Cavia (133.82 points). This did, however, not affect the seeding and - as a result - did not effect the draw either.

Group Stage

The Group Stage of the twenty-fifth Sealand Cup ran from 19 February to 5 March 2014.

Format

The teams in each group played each other in a single round-robin format, playing the other teams in the group once (at home or away). Each team earned 3 points for a win in regular time, 2 points for a win after extra time or after a penalty shoot-out, 1 point for a loss after extra time or after a penalty shoot-out and 0 points for a loss in regular time. For goal difference purposes, matches decided after extra time or after a penalty shoot-out were treated as if the match had been decided after a golden goal (regardless of the actual number of goals scored). This point system is similar to the system used by the (real-life) IIHF for international ice hockey matches. The order of play in each group was decided by draw.

The top-two teams of each group and the ten best third-placed teams advanced to the second round (round of thirty-two). If two or more teams were level on points, the head-to-head result was the main tie-breaking criterium.
