FC Merchtem is a Belgian club from Vlaams-Brabant founded by stoorzender on 29-05-2005. Originaly, the teamname was ksvo (koninklijk steenokkerzeel vlug op). On 26-04-2017, the owner renamed the club to Oppèkse Kadeeën, when he moved to Opwijk. The final name FC Merchtem was given on 07-10-2019, when the owner moved to Merchtem.

The team started in the 10th division and currently plays in the 5th division. They reached Eerste Klasse, the highest division of Belgium, and stayed there for 6 seasons (seasons 65-70). Season 62 was memorable for FC Merchtem, because they won the title in the Belgium Sapphire Challenger Cup. In season 65 they repeated this, making them the first Belgian team to win the same Challenger Cup twice. In the national cup, their best performance was reaching the quarter final (2 times).

BUC

FC Merchtem has been Belgian Unofficial Champion (BUC) several times in the past:

  • They won their first title on 15.11.2020, beating the previous BUC Boldklubben Skjold in a league match. The following two matches (cup and league) they succesfully defended their title. They lost the title on 25.11.2020 against The Reaperz in the round of 16 of the national cup.
  • The second title was won on 14.02.2021 against Grimbie 69 in a league match. The following cupmatch they defended the title, but the next league match they lost it to A.M..
