Season eight is the current edition of the Brăila Cup. It is scheduled to start on May 4, 2011, under a new competition format. The large amount of registration requests made clear that the number of teams taking part at the event should be increased. Therefore, 80 teams will start the competition. Sixteen of them will be automatically qualified in the group stage, based on the team coefficient. The 64 remaining teams will take part at a preliminary round. Those teams will be divided into four pots (also based on the coefficient) and drawn together. The 32 winning teams will join the 16 team already qualified in the group stage. The format of this stage was also changed. The 48 teams will be divided into eight groups of six, with two teams qualifying from each group into the knock-out stages. The final will take place on July 6, 2011.

Season eight was the first to adopt the current competition format. A high number of registration requests made it clear that the number of participating teams needed to increase. As a result, 80 teams entered the tournament. Sixteen of them were automatically qualified for the group stage, based on the team coefficient. The remaining 64 teams competed in a preliminary round, divided into four pots (also based on coefficient) and drawn accordingly. The 32 winners from this round joined the 16 pre-qualified teams in the group stage.

Season eight was the first to adopt the current competition format. A high number of registration requests made it clear that the number of participating teams needed to increase. As a result, 80 teams entered the tournament. Sixteen of them were automatically qualified for the group stage, based on the team coefficient. The remaining 64 teams competed in a preliminary round, divided into four pots (also based on coefficient) and drawn accordingly. The 32 winners from this round joined the 16 pre-qualified teams in the group stage.

This stage also saw a format change: the 48 teams were split into eight groups of six, with the top two from each group advancing to the knockout rounds. The preliminary round took place on 4 May 2011, and the final was played on 6 July 2011.

Frunza, manager of Frunza United, claimed his second title after an all-winners final, defeating the_champion, manager of Skulblaka Champions, with a convincing 6–2 scoreline. Beroe Ostrov secured third place after a tight match against keep---walking.
